Group Riding Classes

The biggest challenge of  Group riding is that you must learn to navigate and maneuver safely around other mounted students.  Your goal is to find the best spot for your horse or pony to perform at your optimal capacity while avoiding traffic.  That’s why riding in a group class is strongly recommended if you want to show.  You’ve got to show the judge you’re in control!

You will ride a total of 45-60 minutes in English or western gear with other riders.  In this Group Riding Class you will work independently as best as possible and ask for assistance as necessary.  We never want any student to flounder, so this is your time to show your horse or pony what you know and get ‘er done!  This includes putting on the halter, leading, grooming, selecting your equipment, putting it on your mount and getting into the riding arena to begin class.

Your lesson will start in the safety of the North Road Farm riding arena.  When your group is ready, we will venture out into the beautiful open space Fremont Rail-Trail network.  Either place, Jan Brubacher and other assistants will be by your side from the ground or mounted horseback to instruct and support you through the learning curves.  Just like in private lessons, you will learn the natural cues your horse is waiting to receive to take action or slow down to a halt.

40 minutes is set aside at the start of the class to give you plenty of time to complete the steps necessary for your Group Riding Class.  Once your ride is completed, you will have 20 minutes to untack your horse, clean the riding equipment and return to the proper resting place. If your horse deserves a relaxing spray bath with hot or cold water, you have that wonderful post-ride time to care for your mount and clean-up yourself.

Please complete & submit online Volunteer & Ride release prior to your class.
