Were you or your child born with the
horse gene, an unexplained passion for horses? Jan Brubacher, owner, leader and instructor, connected in early childhood and pleaded for horseback riding lessons, camp and 4H. 30 years later, Jan still takes lessons and has developed a great scope of horsemanship: equitation, training, showing, care and management that you will appreciate. With Jan, you will improve by riding her trained schoolmaster horses, not a young green horse, one with bad behavior or poor training. You will ride and feel better immediately.
Jan’s interests in riding cover the spectrum from English, Hunt Seat, Western, Balanced Seat, Dressage, Eventing, Hunter/Jumper to trail and beach rides plus carriage driving.
If confidence in handling a horse on the ground, proper commands riding in an arena, a guided trail ride, enjoying the view along the surf, new friends at summer 4H camp, learning experiences at Peppermint Ponies 4H Club or thrill of horse shows is your dream, you've come to the best horseback riding place!
In 1998, Jan and her husband Rich restored North Road Farm, Fremont, NH into a private horseback riding academy, camp and 4H club for dedicated children, adults and people with disabilities. Jan is proud of the strong number of referrals she receives from happy riders who share their stories with friends, who then come for horseback riding, camp or 4H club. The majority of students and club members return year after year as friendships grow and bonds deepen.
Here, you will not a find a hectic board, show, sale barn with too many horses, people and not enough space or attention. You will feel no pressure to buy or lease a horse unless this is your choice. You will
not be instructed by a teenager or immature adult will poor communication or business skills. You will have Jan’s undivided focus!
Jan owns and regularly trains the seven horses who provide horseback riding lessons at North Road Farm, Fremont NH. She has worked with a variety of breeds: Quarter Horse, Morgan, Arabian, Appaloosa, Thoroughbred, Welsh Cob, Belgian and Clydesdale crosses. She favors trained crossbred draft geldings as solid mounts with their steady, easy temperaments. The half-arab horses are quick, smart and sporty to ride. The two ponies are perennial favorite. You will be able to ride or
lease all the different trained horses and choose your favorite mount.
In 2004, Jan founded and continues to lead the Peppermint Ponies 4H Club,
4hpeppermintponies.org, a thriving club of horse-crazy youngsters age 5-18. You are welcome to attend a meeting as a guest. Jan is a current member and past officer of the Rockingham County 4-H Horse Leaders Association,
